The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting innovative research, delivering high-quality teaching, and contributing to the academic and intellectual life of the institution. Responsibilities

  • Teach graduate courses in operations research, optimization techniques, stochastic processes, and related areas.
  • Develop and deliver innovative and engaging course content that integrates theoretical concepts with practical applications in business and industry.
  • Mentor and advice students on academic and career-related matters, providing guidance for research projects, internships, and professional development opportunities.
  • Conduct cutting-edge research in operations research, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field through scholarly publications, conference presentations, and participation in research seminars.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the Business School and across other departments or disciplines to foster interdisciplinary research initiatives and academic programs.
  • Participate in academic governance activities, serving on departmental, school, and university committees as needed.
  • Engage with industry partners and professional organizations to promote collaborative research projects, internships, and opportunities for student engagement.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of the Business School’s curriculum, programs, and initiatives, incorporating emerging trends and best practices in operations research and related fields.
  • Maintain active involvement in relevant professional associations and networks, representing the university and contributing to the broader scholarly community.

Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Management Science, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • A record of excellence in teaching, as evidenced by student evaluations, peer evaluations, and teaching awards or recognitions.
  • A strong research portfolio with demonstrated scholarly contributions to the field of operations research, including publications in leading academic journals and presentations at reputable conferences.
  • Expertise in quantitative analysis, mathematical modelling, optimization techniques, and relevant software tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, R, CPLEX, Gurobi).
  • Experience in applying operations research methodologies to real-world problems in business, industry, or public policy settings.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues, mentor students, and engage with external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in academic and professional environments.
  • Ability to contribute to the academic and intellectual community of the Business School through service activities, outreach initiatives, and collaborative projects.
  • Eligibility for appointment at the rank of Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant Professor, based on qualifications and experience.
