Achugamonu Bede Uzoma, Ph.D.

Registrar

Achugamonu Bede Uzoma is currently the Registrar of James Hope University. He is an Administrator, Researcher, Lecturer, and Finance and Investment Analyst. He has more than 23 years of professional and academic experience in various companies and in different capacities. 

He rose through the ranks to the position of Head, Credit Control, DAAR Communications Plc (AIT) before joining Covenant University as a Lecturer/Researcher. He taught for 10 years at both undergraduate and post-graduate school of Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria. He was a part-time Lecturer in the Post Graduate School of Lagos State University, Ojo. 

Dr. Achugamonu obtained his PhD in Finance at Covenant University where he emerged as the best PhD Student in the Banking & Finance Department in 2021. He clinched the best graduating M.Sc. student award in the College of Management and Social Sciences at Covenant University in 2015. He also obtained a Master of Science Degree in Finance from University of Lagos (UNILAG) and B. Sc. Accounting Degree from Ambrose Alli University. 

Due to his passion for skill acquisition and professional certification, Achugamonu wrote and passed the final exams of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and was inducted as an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) in 2009 and later rose to become a Fellow of ICAN (FCA) in 2021. He is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, United Kingdom as well as an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria where he won the best student award during the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria Foundation exam in 2001. 

Achugamonu is an accomplished author with more than forty journals publications, book chapter contributions and conference papers in local and high impact international journal repositories. He is currently a Reviewer with some academic journal publishers and professional examination bodies in Nigeria and diaspora. As an Entrepreneurship Lecturer, he supervised several project(s) especially the one titled “ENERGEN” which was chosen to be among the 5 winners in Africa during the Hackathon Contest organized by Share Africa in September, 2021. He was selected as a Jury Member, during the CU-OCIIP Expo, 2021 competition where 1,368 participants registered from 33 countries with 112 exhibitions. 

He was a founding Co-coordinator, Center for Professional Accounting Practice (CEPAC) at Covenant University. He was a pioneer coordinator of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) programme at Covenant University, where he mentored a student who came second among Universities in Africa at the Virtual Global Trust Award organized by CISI in February, 2023. 

He is presently a Fellow of the Center for Economic Policy and Development Research (CEPDAR) at Covenant University, a member of ICAN Research Publications and Review Committee. He is also a member of the African Accounting and Finance Association (AAFA). He was recently appointed Deputy Director, Covenant University Centre for Life Long Learning (CCLL) and a Board member of the CCLL Committee. He is a member of the Covenant University, International Conference on Entrepreneurship (CU-ICE). He wrote the blue print that re-positioned and re-branded the Center for Information Technology Courses at Covenant University. He is the founder “Finance Syrup” an online platform dedicated to sharing useful information across all accounting and financial concerns globally.
