Dangote Refinery Academic Visit – From the classroom to real world impact
On the 15th April, 2026 Our students at James Hope University had the incredible opportunity to visit the Dangote Refinery co-ordinated by the Director of Strategic Partnerships (Zephia Ovia-Ikem) and the Management team of James Hope University.
Witnessing firsthand the scale, innovation, and vision driving one of Africa’s landmark projects
As Nigeria shifts from a country that once relied heavily on refined imports to position as a key player in exporting finished petroleum products, it was ground breaking to learn the following:
- The Refinery now produces over capacity at 661,000bpd
- The Refinery has a target to reach 1.4 million barrels per day which could potentially position it to be the largest refinery in the world
- Extremely self-sufficient on power and 7x the size of Victoria Island
Moments like this go beyond textbooks, shaping perspectives and inspiring future possibilities.
