Admission Requirement
Acceptance into the University’s postgraduate programme is not automatic. We seek candidates who can best complete the rigorous programme and contribute to the quality of the class. Applicants who have met the admission requirements will be contacted to attend a high-level selection interview.
Apply to James Hope University
Applicants to the University’s postgraduate programmes are required to possess an undergraduate degree from an accredited university with a strong academic record. James Hope University admits graduates from all recognized universities to its postgraduate programmes provided that they satisfy the requirements stipulated below.
Master of Business Adminitration (MBA) Programme
MBA Admissions Requirements
- Candidates must have at least five (5) credit passes in WASC, SSCE/GCE, NECO, or their equivalent, including English and Mathematics, in line with the National Universities Commission (NUC) minimum admission standards.
- Applicants with a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) must possess a minimum of a first degree or HND (Merit Pass) with at least a Credit-level pass in relevant areas.
- Applicants from recognized universities or other higher institutions must have a good first degree (minimum of Second-Class Lower Division) in related disciplines to qualify for admission.
- Nigerian applicants must submit an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate in compliance with national regulations.
- Degrees obtained from foreign institutions must be evaluated by the Federal Ministry of Education.
- English Proficiency Requirement (for Non-Native Speakers).
- Applicants whose native language is not English may be required to submit official TOEFL (minimum score of 90 iBT), IELTS (minimum score of 6.5), or an equivalent test result.
- James Hope University may take registered students of higher degrees from other universities on transfer if they meet all conditions for entry to the MBA or M.Sc. programmes.

- First Degree Certificate
- Official transcripts from previous academic institutions. Unofficial transcripts may be submitted with your application; once admitted, official transcripts should be sent directly to James Hope University from the issuing institution prior to registration (provisional acceptance may be granted pending official submission).
- A professional resume that provides evidence of work experience.
- Executive MBA applicants should provide work experience in a mid- to senior-manager role. Ideally, they have managed people, worked internationally, held P&L responsibilities, and hold a proven management track record in the public or private sector.
- Professional MBA applicants should provide evidence of 3-5 years of work experience.
- No prior work experience is required for Full-time MBA or M.Sc. programmes.
- A personal statement that discusses your career goals, your interest in the programme and your perspective on how the James Hope University degree will help you achieve your goals.
- National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or Exemption Certificate
- Three professional recommendation letters. Applicants can proceed to complete their applications by providing three academic or professional referees.
Master of Science (M.Sc.) Programme
M.Sc. Admissions Requirements

Scholarships
The James Hope University Scholarship takes the form of a partial or full tuition waiver to encourage and assist high-achieving candidates to undertake their postgraduate degree programme.

Scholarship Application Steps
- To apply for a scholarship, you first need to apply for one of our postgraduate programs and complete your application. Once your application is submitted, download and carefully read the scholarship conditions before proceeding.
- After understanding the scholarship requirements, download the scholarship application form and fill in your details accurately. Once completed, scan the filled form along with all other supporting documents required as stated in the scholarship conditions into a single file.
- Next, visit the scholarship application page on the application portal. Enter your Applicant ID, upload the scanned document package, and submit your scholarship application.
- After submission, our team will review your documents and notify you of the school’s decision following careful consideration.
