Dr. Somachi Kachikwu is an accomplished educator, curriculum specialist, executive leader, education author, and youth success strategist with more than two decades of experience in education, program management, leadership development, and institutional capacity building across the United States and Africa.
She is an Adjunct Lead Faculty member at the African School of Governance, where she teaches Leading Self and Others: Behavioral Science for Better Decisions. She also serves as Executive Director of the Women Leadership Institute and is the Founder and Chief Learning Officer of The Learning Box International, an education consultancy specializing in curriculum development, instructional design, educator development, and youth success.
Dr. Kachikwu is also the founder of Coach with Dr. K, a student coaching and college-readiness platform that helps young people strengthen their academic performance, executive-functioning skills, confidence, leadership, and preparation for college, careers, and life. As an education author, she has written books and learning resources for children, parents, and educators.
Previously, she served as Curriculum Director at Phoenix TS and as a consultant and program manager with Nigeria’s National Universities Commission. Her professional experience also includes supporting USAID-funded initiatives in Nigeria and Haiti through Chemonics International.
Dr. Kachikwu earned her Doctor of Education from Marymount University, where her research examined online professional development for teachers in rural Uganda. She also holds degrees from Wesleyan University, University College London, and the University of Leicester and is a certified Project Management Professional and Certified ScrumMaster.
She hosts the Class Dismissed with Dr. K podcast and writes on education and society for The Statesman. Recognized as one of TWI’s “31 Unstoppable Women of 2025,” Dr. Kachikwu brings extensive expertise in academic innovation, curriculum development, institutional leadership, and human-capital development to the James Hope University Governing Council.
