Application Guide
This step-by-step guide, along with the demo video will guide you through creating an account, verifying it, completing your application, uploading documents, making payment, and submitting with ease.
Step-by-Step Application Process
Let's get started on the journey to becoming a part of James Hope University!
1. Visit the Application Portal
- Open your preferred web browser and navigate to: https://portal.jhu.edu.ng
2. Select Application Type
- If this is your first time applying, click “New Applicant”
- If you have already registered, click “Returning Applicant” to log in and continue.
3. New Applicant
After clicking New Applicant you will be directed to the signup page. Complete the form with the following details:
Select your application batch (e.g., session or intake period).
Enter your active email address and mobile phone number.
Provide your full name.
Create a strong password for your account.
Select your programme of interest from the dropdown list.
Complete the captcha puzzle to confirm you are not a robot.
Click Submit to register your account.
4. Account Verification
Once you submit, a confirmation message will appear, e.g.:
“Congratulations, [Your Name]! You have successfully signed up. Please check your email to verify your account before proceeding.”
Important: Do not proceed further on the portal until you verify your email account.
Open your email inbox and find the email titled “James Hope University Applicant Account Verification” sent from notification@jhu.edu.ng.
If you don’t see it, check your Spam or Junk folders.
5. Verify Your Account
Open the verification email and copy the One Time Password (OTP) included.
Click the Verify link provided in the email, which takes you to the Applicant Verification page.
Enter your registered email and paste the OTP.
Click Verify.
Upon successful verification, your account will be activated.
6. Login and Complete Your Application
Return to the portal, click on Returning Applicant and log in using your email and password.
Fill out the following sections meticulously:
- Upload your passport photograph.
- Enter your personal information.
- Provide your academic details.
- Add your contact information.
- Enter any post-secondary qualifications.
- Optionally, submit GRE, GMAT, or NMAT scores.
- Upload supporting documents such as WACE results, First Degree or Masters certificates, NYSC certificate, Personal Statement, Resume, etc.
- Provide contact details for 3 referees.
7. Application Payment and Submission
To finalize your application, pay an application deposit of NGN 10,000 through the provided payment methods on the portal.
After successful payment, submit your completed application.
8. Post-Submission Process
You will receive an email confirming your application has been received.
The admissions team will review your submitted documents and eligibility.
You will be notified via email about the outcome of your application.
