Achugamonu Bede Uzoma is the Registrar of James Hope University, where he provides excellent administrative oversight. He is an Administrator, Researcher, Lecturer, and Finance and Investment Analyst. He has more than 25 years of professional and academic experience in various companies and in different capacities. He rose through the ranks to the position of Head, Credit Control, DAAR Communications Plc (AIT). Due to his passion for capacity building and personal development, he joined Covenant University, where he taught for 10 years at both the undergraduate and post-graduate schools. While at Covent University (CU), he served in various committees such as admissions, curriculum development, research and publication, the Coordinator, Town and Gown seminar, amongst several other committees. He is a part-time Lecturer in the Postgraduate School of Lagos State University, Ojo.
Dr. Achugamonu obtained his M.Sc. and PhD in Finance at Covenant University, where he emerged as the best PhD Student in the Banking & Finance Department in 2021. He also clinched the best graduating M.Sc. student award in the College of Management and Social Sciences in 2015.
He obtained a Master of Science Degree in Finance from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and B. Sc Accounting Degree from Ambrose Alli University. Due to his passion for skill acquisition and professional certification, he qualified as an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) in 2009 and was admitted as a Fellow of ICAN (FCA) in 2021. He is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, United Kingdom. In October 2024, he was admitted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria. He won the best student award during the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria Foundation exam in 2001.
Achugamonu is an accomplished author with more than forty-five journal publications, book chapter contributions, and conference papers in high-impact journals. He is currently a Reviewer with some academic journal publishers and professional examination bodies in Nigeria and the diaspora. He supervised several projects, especially the one titled “ENERGEN,” which was chosen to be among the 5 winners in Africa during the Hackathon Contest organized by Share Africa in September 2021. He was selected as a Jury Member during the CU-OCIIP Expo, 2021 competition, where 1,368 participants registered from 33 countries with 112 exhibitions. He won some grants, including N770,000, Seed Grant – Covenant University Centre for Research, Innovation and Discovery (CUCRID) – Software Solution for Nigeria SMEs Accounting Practices - Adetula et.al, (2019), Grooming Research Grant– awarded by the Grooming Research Centre in Lagos, Nigeria, November 2019.
He was a founding Co-coordinator, Centre for Professional Accounting Practice (CEPAC) at CU. He was a pioneer coordinator of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment programme at CU, where he mentored a student who came second among Universities in Africa at the Virtual Global Trust Award organized by CISI in February 2023.
He is presently a Fellow of the Center for Economic Policy and Development Research (CEPDAR) at CU, a member of the ICAN Research Publications and Review Committee. He is also a member of the African Accounting and Finance Association (AAFA). He was recently appointed Deputy Director, Covenant University Centre for Lifelong Learning (CCLL) and a Board member of the CCLL Committee. He is a member of the Covenant University, International Conference on Entrepreneurship (CU-ICE). He wrote the blueprint that repositioned and re-branded the Centre for Information Technology Courses at Covenant University. He is the founder of “Finance Syrup,” an online platform dedicated to sharing useful information across all accounting and financial concerns globally.
